Can l keep my credit cards?
Generally, it’s not a good idea to keep active cards- those that you are continuing to use regularly- off the program. Some of our clients keep one or two with zero balance off the program in case there is an emergency. But, we generally ask that you include all unsecured debt over $500 in our program. After all, if you were able to keep charging and paying off other cards, you would not need our help, right? Your enrolled creditors would also see that you are able to make payments on other cards and be much less inclided to negotiate a settlement of your enrolled accounts with us. Their attitude will be, "Why should I negotiate a settlement of the entire amount owed to fully resolve the account when you are paying your other creditors on time?"
